Team Tilt crowned first GC32 World Champions

The second stop of the Extreme Sailing Series 2018 saw the fleet come together with the boats of the GC32 Racing Tour for the inaugural GC32 World Championship at Riva del Garda, Italy. Roman Hagara’s new Red Bull Sailing Team finished on a disappointing 7th place overall. Team Tilt (SUI) earned the World Title with SAP Sailing Team (DEN) and Team Oman Air (Oman) taking second and third. Meanwhile.

RIVA DEL GARDA (Italy) – The glorious Lake Garda sunshine turned fickle across four days of foiling for the World Championship, putting the record fleet of 13 catamarans to the test in blustery conditions. The event also marked the second act of the Extreme Sailing Series. With five acts left to go, SAP Sailing Team (DEN) hold the top of the Extreme Sailing Series leaderboard, with Alinghi (SUI) and Oman Air (Oman) in close pursuit at second and third overall.

Hagara and Steinacher have revamped Red Bull Sailing for 2018, recruiting Great Britain’s Chris Draper to take over on the helm. Additional new Red Bull Sailing members include Neil Hunter (GBR), Dan Morris (USA), Rhys Mara (AUS) and Ed Powys (GBR).

Next up for the Red Bull Sailing Team in the Extreme Sailing Series: the stadium racing returns to Barcelona, Spain for Act 3 on 14-17 June.
