Namibia is not a place you simply visit. That is where Stefanos Tsitsipas begins, and the film that follows earns the line. Released on his YouTube channel in January, Namibia is a quiet piece of work: vast landscapes, long silences, and a player stepping far outside the noise of the tennis season to see what is left when it goes.
Shot during the off-season with 3MPG as production company, the film moves from the dunes at Sossusvlei and the dead camelthorn trees of Deadvlei, where the light makes time feel suspended, to the Skeleton Coast seen from a helicopter, the raw edge where desert runs straight into the Atlantic. Between the landscapes there are people. Time spent with the Himba community. Children at a local school, in moments that quietly stay with you. One sequence starts before sunrise, hot air balloons drifting over the sand as the light arrives all at once.
It is a film about slowing down, listening, and being fully present, made by someone whose job rarely allows any of the three.
