Four-time Formula 1 World Champion to start last and attempt to pass all 100 competitors
in Red Bull’s ‘Max vs 100’ with just 30 laps to do it. Audiences worldwide can watch the

LONDON, UK, 9 September 2026 – In one week, four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen will line up last on a grid of 100 drivers from around the world at Silverstone, UK, in Red Bull’s ‘Max vs 100’, with just 30 laps to overtake every one of them. Fans can watch the action unfold live on Disney+ globally and the ESPN App for ESPN Unlimited subscribers in the U.S. from 17:00 BST with the official race start time of 18:00 BST on 16 September.
The premise is simple. Max must start last and work his way through a field of 100 drivers. Every driver he overtakes is eliminated, with the field shrinking as the race unfolds. For the 100 challengers, the goal is simple: stay ahead of one of the world’s best drivers for as long as possible.
“It’s going to be quite hectic – trying to race 100 people will be very tough,” says Max. “I haven’t driven a lot of go-karting over the last few years, naturally, because of F1 and my GT racing. It’s always fun to go back and have a good time.”
Up against one of the fastest drivers on the planet, the 100 challengers have one advantage: a fast lap. Each can use one shortcut during the opening half of the race to regain ground when Max closes in. Max will have a shortcut of his own, but locked away until half distance, giving the field the first 15 laps to make the most of their advantage.
David Coulthard, former Formula 1 driver, said: “The interesting thing for me is the time. Max has the ability to be quicker than pretty much everyone, but being quicker isn’t the same as overtaking 100 karts. He’ll have traffic, defensive driving, the fast lap, and the clock to deal with. If there’s a quick karter there who can make themselves difficult to pass, Max could have a proper race on his hands.”
Every driver, Max included, will race an identical kart, with sealed ballast added for anyone under the minimum weight. Grid positions will be decided by a single flying lap during qualifiers, with no second attempt.
Of the challenge, Max says: “I’ve driven from when I was four years old until about 15 in go-karts, so for me there’s no excuse to say ‘oh, I need more practice’ or ‘I need more time.’ When I get there, it’s just learning the track itself, getting comfortable with the grip of the karts, and that’s it. Not much more I can do, but for sure I know that some of them will be very fast as well.”
The driver line-up has been confirmed and includes content creators, Red Bull athletes, Red Bull players, and even fans from around the world, each one hoping to be the name Max can’t quite catch.
“Max is the best driver in the world, hands down. By far,” say Caedrel, British streamer, broadcaster and former professional League of Legends player, now one of the most-watched voices in esports. “So, I don’t know how I’ll feel when he’s coming up behind me. I don’t know if I’ll be nervous or really excited, but I’m going to give it my best and at least try and hang on for a couple of corners. As a kid, I could never have imagined something like this happening.”
The live broadcast will be led by triple BAFTA-winning comedian Mo Gilligan alongside a wider presenting team, bringing game-inspired graphics, cinematic drone footage and live insight throughout. Max will speak directly to his challengers as he hunts them down, so viewers hear the exchanges that shape the race.
Max vs 100 will play out live globally[1] on ESPN on Disney+ on 16 September 2026. It will also stream live on the ESPN App for ESPN Unlimited subscribers in the U.S. before broadcasted on ESPN2 later that day.
