Don’t Miss It: Sandro Dias Goes for Two Guinness World Records™ on the World’s Largest Skate Ramp

Watch Brazilian skateboarding icon Sandro Dias make history on Thursday 25 September, as he turns a government building in Porto Alegre into the world’s largest skate ramp – attempting to drop up to 75 metres and smash two Guinness World Records™.

PORTO ALEGRE, BRAZIL, 23 September 2025 For decades, the Centro Administrativo Fernando Ferrari (CAFF) building, with its sweeping curve resembling a skateboarding quarterpipe, has been dreamed of in Brazil’s skate community as the “Ultimate Skate Ramp.” This week, one of the sport’s all-time greats, Sandro Dias, intends to make that dream a reality.

Weather permitting, the 50-year-old Red Bull athlete will drop in on the CAFF on Thursday 25 September in what could be one of the most audacious moments in skateboarding history. The feat, dubbed the Red Bull Building Drop and created in collaboration with Prada Linea Rossa, will be broadcast LIVE on YouTube.

The building’s 88.91-metre curve represents a scale no rider has ever confronted. Dias will start at 30 metres – already significantly taller than the standard 23-metre Megaramp – before working upwards through a series of higher, riskier attempts that could take him as high as 75 metres.

At every stage, Dias will be in record-breaking territory. Officials from Guinness World Records™ will be present to verify two potential titles: the highest-ever drop-in and the fastest speed achieved on a standard skateboard.

Since the CAFF first appeared on Porto Alegre’s skyline, it’s been the subject of challenges and memes, with fans even daring Tony Hawk to skate it. The skateboarding icon always dismissed the idea – until Sandro Dias stepped up. “If anyone knows how to go fast on a ramp, it’s Sandro,” Hawk said of the Six-Time Vert World Champion. “I see this as one of the biggest stunts that has ever been done, along the lines of when Danny Way started doing all the Mega Ramp stuff. But this is way beyond that. It’s gonna be historic!”

Beyond pure grit, Dias’ run is the product of months of preparation. For the past nine months he has trained with a 40 kg weighted vest on a modified Megaramp to adapt to G-forces, and on an airport runway where he pushed past 136 km/h on a skateboard. In recent weeks he has spent hours on-site carrying out test runs, honing both technique and mindset.

To make the descent possible, engineers have overlaid the building’s concrete façade with plywood panels and installed MotoGP-style air fences at the run-out. For extra safety, Dias will also rely on advanced protective equipment, including a sophisticated spine guard.

“Skaters are always looking at street architecture, imagining tricks. Most of the time, those things are actually possible – but this one wasn’t like that,” said local pro skater Cezar ‘Gordo’ Dal Pozzolo. “When the first rumours started, I just couldn’t believe they would actually build a structure like that and that Sandro would really try it. I feel privileged to be able to witness this in my lifetime, to see it live.”

On Thursday 25 September, Sandro Dias takes skateboarding into uncharted territory. Tune in LIVE on YouTube to see if he can conquer the “Ultimate Skate Ramp” and carve his name into the record books.
